Huddersfield want Manchester City's Patrick Roberts - sources

Huddersfield Town have made a loan enquiry for Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts, sources close to both clubs have told ESPN FC.

Premier League new boys Huddersfield are busy planning for new signings as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season and, having agreed a deal for City's Aaron Mooy, Roberts has also emerged as a target.

Former Fulham youngster Roberts is due to return to Manchester City for preseason after enjoying a successful 18-month spell at Scottish champions Celtic.

The 20-year-old was one of Celtic's star performers as they completed a domestic treble, scoring 11 goals and providing 19 assists for Brendan Rodgers' men.

Celtic have expressed an interest in signing Roberts on a permanent basis, but City have yet to make a decision on the skilful attacker's future.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Roberts wants to link up with City this summer before making a decision on his future and, if he does not figure in Pep Guardiola's plans, he will seek to move on in search of regular first-team football.
