Mexico international Hector Moreno signs for Roma from PSV Eindhoven

Roma have announced their first new signing of the summer with Mexico international Hector Moreno arriving from PSV Eindhoven.

Moreno, 29, has signed a contract with the Serie A side through to 2021.

"I am very happy to sign for Roma," Moreno told the club's official website. "This represents an important step up in my career. I hope I can show my individual qualities and contribute to the overall success of the team."

Moreno becomes the first player to be signed by Roma's new sporting director Monchi, who arrived in the Italian capital from Sevilla in April.

"Moreno has been a target of mine for a long time, and fortunately now the circumstances are right for him to join us at Roma," Monchi said. "This is a central defender with a lot of international experience, and he perfectly fits the profile we were looking for."

Capped 79 times by Mexico, Moreno is currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup. As well as PSV, the centre-back has represented Espanyol, AZ Alkmaar and Pumas UNAM.

Later on Tuesday, Roma announced Eusebio Di Francesco as the club's new coach.
