Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Reported Arsenal target Mbappe 'phenomenal'

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has told the Evening Standard that Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe has been a "phenomenal revelation" and he would love to see him at the Emirates next season.

The Londoners have been linked with a record-breaking bid for Mbappe, and Oxlade-Chamberlain could face him on Tuesday when England take on France in a Paris friendly.

He did little to quell speculation that Arsenal are keen on the 18-year-old, saying: "Anyone would want him in their team.

"First and foremost, Mbappe has been a phenomenal revelation this season at such a young age.

"It is hard not to watch him closely. He is scoring so many goals and, every week, it's in your face."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also retains an interest in Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, who could start for France on Tuesday.

Oxlade-Chamberlain added: "He [Mbappe] really is a quality player. I feel the same about Lacazette. I have seen him for a good few years now and he is always scoring goals.

"I'm looking forward to playing against them as well as the rest of the French players. They have a really strong squad, right from the back all the way up to the front, all of different ages.

"France have a lot of strength in depth, so it will be a good challenge for myself and for us as a team as well."
