Vincent Janssen to consider Tottenham future this summer

Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has admitted he is unsure about his future at the club after a disappointing debut season in the Premier League.

Janssen, 22, cost £17 million last summer but he managed four goals in 38 appearances in all competitions and just two from open play.

The Netherlands international remains an important player for the national team and he is in the squad for the upcoming friendlies against Morocco and Ivory Coast, and the World Cup qualifier at home to Luxembourg on June 9.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's game in Agadir, Janssen told the Dutch media his future is still to be resolved.

"I would like to focus on the Dutch national team first. Then we'll see how all parties see the future," the former AZ Alkmaar forward told NOS in quotes translated by Football Oranje.

"This has not been my best season, that's clear, but I've learned a lot. I have always said: I'll give myself at least a year for the chance at Spurs. I have played less than expected, but I am now a better player by working every day at the top of England."

Meanwhile, Clinton Njie, another player facing an uncertain future at Tottenham, has been warned about his discipline by his international manager.

Njie spent this season on loan at Ligue 1 club Marseille and, while Spurs have the option to recall him, he is expected to join L'OM permanently this summer.

He was a notable omission from the Cameroon squad for the upcoming 2019 Africa Nations Cup qualifier next month, and manager Hugo Broos told the BBC: "Njie Clinton is not here because of poor discipline. He must change his attitude and put in the work required if he is to turn the qualities he possesses into success at the top level.

"Even Ronaldo or Messi are always working hard; him thinking that he's the best doesn't work, it doesn't work in Marseille either."
