Oliver Torres wants Iker Casillas to remain at Porto beyond the summer

Oliver Torres hopes Porto teammate Iker Casillas will continue for another season at the club despite speculation that the goalkeeper will leave this summer.

A Bola recently reported that Casillas, 36, has yet to exercise a clause in his contract that would allow him to remain at Porto for a further season.

Reports in Spain have claimed that the former Real Madrid keeper is wanted by clubs in China, Qatar and Turkey, but the Premier League could be his preference with speculation suggesting that he has agreed a precontract with Liverpool.

"We're on holiday now but I'm in contact with Iker," Torres told Onda Cero. "I'm looking forward to seeing him in preseason. I really hope he can continue with us."

A Bola reported that Casillas' wages of €5 million per season are a problem for Porto, who are trying to cut down on costs.

Madrid have reportedly been paying up to 50 percent of his wages since he left the club in 2015, but that will cease this summer with Porto having to come up with the full amount.

Casillas has just completed his second campaign at Porto and kept 23 clean sheets while conceding 23 goals in 43 games for the club, who finished runners-up to Benfica in the Primeira Liga.

The former Spain captain has remained tight-lipped about his future and recently posted a message on his Twitter account thanking the Porto fans for the support this past season.

Porto, who are looking for a new coach after parting company with Nuno Espirito Santo by mutual consent earlier this month, begin their preseason on July 3.
