Manchester United interested in signing Ivan Perisic - Inter Milan

Manchester United are interested in signing Ivan Perisic, Inter Milan sporting director Pierro Ausilio has told Mediaset, but the club have yet to make a formal approach for the winger.

Perisic, 28, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, with Sky Sports claiming United are in talks with Inter over signing the Croatia international.

However, Ausilio has said that Inter have yet to receive any bids for Perisic.

"If by offer you mean an official communication, then we've not had anything yet," he said. "The media are always there first but there's nothing to it. Certainly there is interest. We have no players who are either for sale or not for sale.

"We want to build a strong Inter and we want strong players, but we already have strong players like Perisic and we need to evaluate a lot of things. We need to evaluate things like willingness. Perisic is a champion and Inter keep hold of their champions."

Inter endured a disappointing 2016-17 season, finishing seventh in Serie A and 28 points behind champions Juventus.

But chances of a resurgence have been boosted following a takeover by Chinese retail giant Suning Holdings Group.

The investment has raised hopes that Inter, who have not won the Serie A title since Jose Mourinho's success in 2010, can keep players like Perisic and attract other star names.

"I don't think Inter's squad is inferior to those of the sides who finished above us [this season]," Ausilio added. "It would be too easy to say it needs to be reconstructed. We're going to have a coach who will have his clear ideas and we will try to do the best we can.

"Inter are Inter, with a history which speaks for itself. There's not one player in the world who would hesitate more than a second before joining Inter. Inter have an enormous history and a great future, with a great group in Suning. The idea is to make an Inter side who can return to the top."
