Paco Alcacer on Barcelona future: 'It is not up to me to decide what happens'

Paco Alcacer hopes to stay at Barcelona, despite failing to break into the first-team on a regular basis during his first season at the club.

Alcacer scored Barca's third goal in the 3-1 Copa del Rey final win against Alaves on Saturday and he told reporters after the victory that he is trying not to look too far ahead.

"I only live in the present and I'm happy here," he said. "It is not up to me to decide what happens next season, it is the directors and the coaches.

"In the end, the hard work was reflected on the pitch. Helping the team with a goal is important and I am very happy to end the season like this.

"I have gone from down to up during the season. I always try to think in the present and on the next game and, in the end, it has its rewards.

"You can never give up -- you must always give your all."

Alcacer is particularly enjoying being able to line-up alongside Lionel Messi for Barcelona.

"There is no better player than Leo Messi," he added. "I am very proud to be able to live and learn beside him.

"It is amazing the ease with which he plays. He makes football so easy. There is no doubt that he is the best player in the world."
