Manchester City confirm summer exits for Sagna, Clichy, Navas, Caballero

Manchester City announced on Thursday that a string of players will leave the club this summer, with Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Jesus Navas, and Willy Caballero all moving on.

The foursome join Pablo Zabaleta as players with expiring contracts to leave the club this month. Yaya Toure and Tosin Adarabioyo are also out of contract, and manager Pep Guardiola has said a decision on their futures will be revealed soon. Toure, 34, has said he wants to stay as he waits for a new contract offer.

Clichy, who joined City from Arsenal in 2011, will depart the Etihad Stadium after six years at the club, making 203 appearances while scoring three goals.

Navas, 31, will move on after four seasons, having made 77 starts in the Premier League and 183 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals.

Sagna played three years at City after joining from Arsenal in 2014. The France right-back made 17 starts in the Premier League this season.

Caballero, who joined City from Malaga in 2014, departs after making 48 appearances for the club.

Clichy and Navas helped City win the Premier League title in 2013-14 and two League Cups, while Clichy also won the league title in 2011-12. Caballero was part of the side that won the League Cup in 2016, with his penalty shootout heroics helping the club beat Liverpool in the final.

"It's been a special six years for me at City," Clichy told the club's official website. "To win four major trophies and help establish the club as one of the top teams in English football has been an incredible journey that I'm proud to have been a part of. It's amazing to see where the club is today and I am sure there is plenty more success to come."

City director of football Txiki Begiristain added: "Gael has been an important player for this football club and I want to wish him well for the future. Since my first day here, he has been outstanding in the way he has applied himself, both in games and in training. He has been a key part in some special moments for this football club and for that he will always be remembered fondly."

Navas joined City from Sevilla for £15 million in 2013 and has been linked with a return to his home-town club.

On Navas, Begiristain said: "Working with Jesus has been a pleasure. His hard work, dedication, professionalism and desire to win have been apparent every single day.

"He showed his versatility numerous times this season, operating at full-back and doing so with distinction. I wish him all the very best with his next move."

Sagna said: "I have enjoyed every moment of my City career and will look back on my time at City fondly. I would like to thank the staff, players and fans for making my three years so memorable."

Caballero, who made 27 appearances this season, said: "From the first day I arrived, everyone at the club has made me feel welcome and I will always be grateful to them. To win the League Cup in such dramatic circumstances was special and it's a day I will never forget."

Begiristain added: "Willy will, quite rightly, be remembered by the City fans for the role he has played over the past three seasons. He is a special man -- and his performances this season were of a consistently high standard. I have no doubt he will go on and continue to prove his quality at the top level."

Other players who could leave the Etihad Stadium this summer include those who have spent the past season out on loan, such as Joe Hart, Samir Nasri, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony.
