Mateo Musacchio's move to AC Milan imminent, says Villarreal owner

Mateo Musacchio's move from Villarreal to AC Milan is on the verge of completion after the owner of the Spanish club announced that an agreement had been struck.

The Argentine defender was in Milan on Monday undergoing a medical. The Serie A club have yet to confirm his transfer, but Fernando Roig, owner and chairman of Villarreal, told Marca that the transfer will go through.

"All three parties have reached an agreement and it looks like Musacchio has gone," Roig said. "Milan are going to pay and Villarreal are totally in agreement.

"It's a satisfactory operation for our club and I wish Mateo all the best, like in the [eight] years he spent here."

According to Marca, a fee of €18 million has been agreed between the two clubs with Musacchio moving on after eight seasons with the Yellow Submarine, whom he joined from River Plate.

The 26-year-old is set to become the first signing of a new era for the Rossoneri, who were sold by Silvio Berlusconi to a group of Chinese investors last month.

Further transfers are expected this summer as the club rebuild after qualifying for Europe again for the first time in four years.
