Chelsea to evaluate U.S.'s Matt Miazga before deciding his future - source

Premier League champions Chelsea will take a close look at defender Matt Miazga during preseason before deciding if -- and where -- he will go out on loan again, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.

Miazga spent this season on loan at Eredivisie club Vitesse, helping the club win the KNVB Cup, the first piece of silverware in its 125-year history.

The source said that the Chelsea hierarchy is pleased with the U.S. international's progress, after seeing him make 29 league and cup appearances, but will take their time before deciding the next step.

Another loan seems likely, however. Even with John Terry's impending departure, as well as the transfer rumors surrounding Kurt Zouma, Miazga has plenty of players to leap over on the Chelsea depth chart, including Gary Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, and Borussia Moenchengladbach loanee Andreas Christensen.

A Goal.com report indicated that Dutch heavyweights PSV Eindhoven and newly crowned champions Feyenoord are among the clubs expressing interest in Miazga.
