Tianjin Quanjian have verbal agreement with target - Shu Yuhui

Tianjin Quanjian owner Shu Yuhui has confirmed that the club have reached a verbal agreement with a player amid rumours of moves for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Diego Costa.

This week, the Chinese Super League club were linked with a big-money deal to bring in Borussia Dortmund forward Aubameyang, while Costa has been regularly reported as a target.

Shu told Chinese media there was an agreement to add to the playing staff when the transfer window opens on June 19, but would not reveal the identity of the player.

"A decision on which player we are going to buy in the summer has been made and we have secured a verbal agreement with the player as well as his club," he said.

"We have not signed a formal contract yet. We had the experience of losing a player due to the leaking of information before, so this time I won't tell you a name."

Tianjin are currently 10th in the league and coach Fabio Cannavaro has complained about the lack of a top-class striker during a run of five games without a win.

They signed Axel Witsel and Alexandre Pato in the winter transfer window and also have Brazilian duo Junior Moraes and Guevanio and South Korean Kwon Kyung-Won on their books.

Chinese Super League clubs can only include three foreign players in each matchday squad, but Shu said: "We still have some minor issues to take care of, but I'm determined to get this deal done."
