Chelsea hand trial to AFC Wimbledon youngster Toyosi Olusanya - sources

Chelsea have taken winger Toyosi Olusanya on trial from League One side AFC Wimbledon, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Olusanya, who has been compared to Manchester City and England winger Raheem Sterling due to his style of play, has caught the eye of clubs higher up the football pyramid with his performances for Wimbledon's Development Squad.

The 19-year-old has yet to feature for the first team this season, but he scored on his senior debut at the end of last term with the winning goal against Newport County.

Olusanya has found himself restricted to playing for Wimbledon's Development Squad this season and he is the side's top scorer with 13 goals and nine assists so far.

The wideman has been on Chelsea's radar since his stunning individual display against them for Wimbledon in the FA Youth Cup in February last year.

Chelsea enquired about Olusanya's availability after the FA Youth Cup tie only for their approach to be firmly rejected and they have continued to keep tabs on his progress ever since.

Manchester City have also watched the teenager several times and are monitoring his situation, but Chelsea have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals by being granted permission to take the teenager on trial.

If Olusanya impresses during his stint at Chelsea he could be offered a deal to sign for the Premier League leaders.
