Blaise Matuidi: Staying at Paris Saint-Germain is still a possibility

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi has indicated that he could extend his stay with the French champions.

Matuidi's contract expires at the end of next season and the club recently proposed improved terms after the 30-year-old had rejected an offer last year.

Speaking to Canal Plus, Matuidi played down speculation surrounding his future and said: "A lot of things have been said, many of them false.

"I am focused on the remainder of the season with PSG. I am very happy in Paris.

"I have an excellent understanding with the club's leaders, despite what some people might think. I have a very good relationship with the president.

"Staying with PSG is a possibility. Is it set in stone? No. I am focused on the end of the season. I feel really good in Paris, and I have no problems here whatsoever."

Matuidi scored twice in the 3-2 win at Metz last week and provided an assist for Edinson Cavani's opener in the 2-0 home win over Montpellier.

However, Monaco remain top of the table on goal difference after their win away at Lyon.
