New Gianluigi Donnarumma deal a priority - AC Milan's Marco Fassone

AC Milan's new general manager Marco Fassone says that agreeing a new contract with Gianluigi Donnarumma is a priority of the Serie A club's new owners.

Donnarumma's current deal expires in 2018 and many see it as a measure of the Italian club's new owners' ambitions whether they extend the 18-year-old's deal or not.

Speaking at a first news conference since the Rossoneri changed hands for the first time in 31 years, Fassone said that work will start immediately on convincing the goalkeeper to commit his future to them beyond the end of next season.

"It's our priority," Fassone said. "We've also spoken about it already with the president. We want to resolve this quickly and make Gigio a pillar for our future. There are some contracts and discussions which will definitely be our priority."

Talks with coach Vincenzo Montella over an extension to his contract, which also expires in 2018, are also on the agenda.

"I am happy to answer this: he has our faith and appreciation," Fassone said when asked about Montella's future. "We also welcomed [his appointment] last June. We have total backing and support for Montella.

"I hope to see [Roberto] Mancini back coaching very soon, but our coach is Montella and we are moving forward with him.

"We will get down to work tomorrow and several agents are going to be contacted. I've got a busy schedule and it's important that we have some legendary Rossoneri figures alongside us.

"I'll have a word with Franco Baresi and Filippo Galli. We want to ensure we start next season with everything organised."
