Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino would love to sign Pachuca and Mexico winger Hirving Lozano this summer and is analyzing the possibility of bringing in the 21-year-old.
"We'd love to [sign Lozano], but it is difficult to combine everything so that it comes off," said Mourino in an interview with ESPN Mexico on Friday. "We believe that he's an important young talent, but we have to evaluate absolutely everything and that's what we are doing."
Lozano declared himself ready for European football this week and has shone in Mexico's top division since his debut in February 2014, moving on to become a regular for El Tri. Pachuca president's Jesus Martinez -- a friend of Mourino -- has described Celta as the "ideal club" for the youngster.
Celta and Pachuca have an agreement in place to support each other and even exchange players, with Tuzos sporting director Marco Garces saying on Tuesday that the club would be keen to keep a percentage of Lozano's rights in order to capitalize on a future sale.
In that regard, Mourino indicated that the Galician club could be an important launching pad for Lozano and other Mexican players moving to Europe.
"Celta has been an extraordinary springboard in recent years for players that we've been able to recruit because Celta's style is very attractive," said Mourino. "It's always about attacking [and] we've been able to move players on to many parts of the world in important teams."
Mourino suggested that the style of Eduardo Berizzo's team -- currently in 10th position in La Liga and the quarterfinals of the Europa League -- would help a player like Lozano settle in at Celta, something that Pachuca's president agreed with.
"He's very professional, he knows Mexican football already -- he played in Atlas -- he's very similar to [Pachuca coach] Diego Alonso," said Martinez in an interview with ESPN earlier this week. "[They] understand young players."
Berizzo himself described Lozano as "very electric, very fast [and] very resolute" and had admitted he has seen the youngster play.
Both Mourino and Berizzo stressed, however, that a deal to bring Lozano would have to wait until Celta's season comes to an end and still is not a certainty. Berizzo hasn't signed a new contract for next season.
Celta are not the only side interested in Lozano, with teams from the Netherlands and Portugal said to be monitoring the situation as well.
