Burnley defender Michael Keane is 'flattered' by transfer interest

Michael Keane has said it is "flattering" to be linked with a move to a number of high-profile clubs but stressed that he is happy at Burnley.

Keane has thrived at Burnley since leaving boyhood club Manchester United on a permanent deal in 2015, playing every minute in the Premier League so far this season.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton and champions Leicester City are all reported to be interested in the central defender, who made an impressive England debut in Germany on Wednesday.

"It's flattering, but I'm focused on Burnley," Keane said. "We've got nine games left in the season and we need to make sure we remain in the league.

"But to see things like that can only mean you're playing well.

"I always thought that I was going to make it at United so when I left, I felt like I had a point to prove.

"If anything it made me work that bit harder. I'm thankful to [Burnley manager] Sean Dyche for the work he's done with me and the faith he's put in me -- that's what has got me to where I am today."

Former Manchester United teammate Ryan Giggs said Keane "didn't put a foot wrong" against World Cup holders Germany.

He was the first outfield Burnley player to be capped by the Three Lions since 1974 and said: "It's a dream come true on a personal level.

"Obviously it's a shame about the result in the end, but I thought the lads played really well."
