Atlanta United makes Josef Martinez loan from Torino permanent

Atlanta put on another show-stopping performance of their early MLS career, battering the Chicago Fire 4-0. (1:59)

Josef Martinez is now a full-time member of Atlanta United FC after the club made his loan permanent on Tuesday.

Martinez, 23, has made an instant impact at the expansion MLS club, scoring five goals in his last two games, both runaway wins for Atlanta.

And the club announced that its signed the designated player to a multi-year contract after acquiring the Venezuela international from Serie A club Torino on loan at the beginning of February.

Atlanta United president Darren Eales said: "The loan deal had an option to make the transfer permanent which we have now triggered as planned. Josef has been a fantastic addition to our club and it's clear he has the ability to continuing making an impact in our league."

"Tata" Martino's team has won its last two matches, with Martinez netting a hat trick in a 6-1 win against Minnesota United on March 12 and following that up with two more strikes in a 4-0 win against the Chicago Fire on March 18.

Martinez scored seven goals in 58 appearances for Torino after joining the club in 2014. He's also scored nine times in 37 senior team appearances for Venezuela.
