Leicester City to renew Mohamed Elyounoussi interest - sources

Leicester City are ready to rekindle their interest in Norway winger Mohamed Elyounoussi in the summer, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Elyounoussi has been a long-term target for Leicester and the club have been monitoring his performances form FC Basel this season.

The 22-year-old has scored three goals and laid on four assists in his last four games for Basel to alert Leicester's scouts and they are considering a move for Elyounoussi at the end of the season.

Leicester are braced to lose a number of key stars at the end of the campaign due to their struggles this season and the club considered a move for Elyounoussi as a possible replacement for Riyad Mahrez if the Algerian had left last summer.

Elyounoussi, who can play out wide or up front, joined Basel last summer from Molde after scoring 42 goals in 92 appearances for the Norwegian club.

The Norway international is regarded as one of the most exciting talents to emerge in Europe and Basel are bracing themselves for interest in the attacking midfielder this summer.

Leicester, who considered signing Elyounoussi before eventually moving for Mahrez in 2014, have continued to keep tabs on Elyounoussi and they could now firm up their interest this summer as they look to rebuild their squad after a disastrous Premier League title defence this season.
