Manchester United's Ashley Young rejects China offer - sources

Manchester United winger Ashley Young has turned down a move to China, but will consider his future options in the summer, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng had been hoping to sign Young from Old Trafford before the close of the Chinese transfer window on Tuesday, but the player has opted to stay at United.

Young, who was an unused substitute during United's 3-2 EFL Cup final victory over Southampton, did not feel the move to China was right for him at this stage of the season, but he could consider a move in the summer.

The 31-year-old will be in the final year of his contract at United in the summer and the former Watford and Aston Villa star is keeping his options open as he wants to be playing regularly at this stage of his career.

Young has been used sparingly by manager Jose Mourinho this season and has found himself playing out of position at right-back most of the time when he has utilised in the first team.

The former England international has made eight starts in all competitions for United this term, and with new signings expected at Old Trafford this summer Young could find himself pushed further down the pecking order.

Sources have told ESPN FC that, although Young is happy at United, should he find himself out of favour in the summer the player is ready to move on in search of regular first-team football with a number of clubs at home and abroad keeping tabs on his situation.
