Monaco star Fabinho could play in Premier League 'maybe one day'

MANCHESTER -- Fabinho says he could play in the Premier League in the future after being linked with a move to a host of English clubs.

The Monaco defender will face Manchester City on Tuesday night in the Champions League -- just one of the clubs he has been linked with, along with neighbours United and Arsenal.

Fabinho insists he is happy with the Ligue 1 leaders at the moment but admitted he could be tempted to move to the Premier League in the future.

"I know my name was linked with more than one English club but I am happy at Monaco at the moment," the 23-year-old told a news conference.

"I have a contract until 2021, but the Premier league is a league that interests me and maybe one day I will come and play here."

Fabinho has been impressed by the quality of City but reckons Monaco are capable of winning the first leg at the Etihad.

"We're here to win. We might alter slightly the way in which we play according to our opposition. They spend a lot of time in opposition penalty area. We'll have to keep an eye on them. We'll be playing our way.

"You can compare the teams if you want -- both teams like to have possession and have a lot of technically gifted players."

Jardim also expressed his desire to one day ply his trade in the Premier League, saying: "I think that all managers and players want to coach and play at the highest level and today the Premier League is perhaps the biggest national league in Europe and everyone would like to have the opportunity to coach here.

"But at the moment we are at Monaco and we are a big club and we have a future to forge, and that is why we give 100 percent to Monaco."
