Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann not tempted by Marseille move yet

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has spoken of his love for Marseille as a child but would not consider moving to the club just yet.

Griezmann, 25, is reported to be a target for Manchester United but said he had doubts about whether a move to England would suit him.

Marseille have become a more attractive option for French players since the club was taken over by American businessman Frank McCourt Jr. in October and they have already succeeded in bringing Dimitri Payet and Patrice Evra back to Ligue 1.

On Tuesday Griezmann told RMC that he had once supported Marseille and he was then asked if he would be interested in following his fellow France internationals to the club.

The former Real Sociedad player acknowledged that he would be the subject of major headlines if he answered positively but he nonetheless did not rule out the idea of one day joining the 2010 French champions.

"Maybe but not for the moment," Griezmann said. "Maybe later."

Griezmann remembers having a special gold Marseille jersey that was released to mark the club's centenary in the 1998-99 season.

After that, however, his eyes were turned by a star-studded, all-conquering Lyon side that played only an hour from his childhood home.

"Marseille was my club when I was very young," Griezmann said. "After that it was Lyon because it was closer and they had [Sonny] Anderson, Juninho and there was [Karim] Benzema.

"From when I was really young it was Marseille. I remember I had their gold jersey. I went [to the Stade Velodrome] once with a friend and my parents as well."
