Eric Dier: Tottenham Hotspur is the 'perfect place' for Dele Alli

Eric Dier says Tottenham is the "perfect place" for Dele Alli, telling Sky Sports the 20-year-old could end up as "just an asset" at another club.

Alli signed a six-year contract with Tottenham in September but it has not stopped links to some of the biggest clubs in Europe including Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

The England international midfielder has already scored 11 Premier League goals this season -- one more than he managed in the whole of last term -- and Dier believes his best friend and teammate is at the right club.

"He's still a very young boy, I think people need to remember that," Dier said. "I think he's at the perfect place because he's got a support system around him and a manager and a group of players that will take care of him.

"You have to worry about young players sometimes in certain places if they can cope with it and will they be looked after as a 20-year-old boy and not just an asset."

Tottenham's defeat at Liverpool on Saturday left them 10 points behind runaway league leaders Chelsea but Dier refused to concede the Premier League title.

"You never know in the Premier League, obviously Chelsea are doing very well and are in a good position but you can never say never," Dier said when asked if third-place Spurs were out of the title race.

"We've always maintained we're going to give everything in the competition, so you never know what can happen. It will be a very tough task."
