Liverpool target Quincy Promes: I have not thought about leaving Spartak

Reported Liverpool target Quincy Promes has told Sport Express he "never thought about other clubs" after being linked with a move away from Spartak Moscow.

Liverpool were widely rumoured to be interested in signing the Netherlands international this month, with Jurgen Klopp keen to add a winger to his squad.

Reds midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum said earlier this month that he wanted the club to sign Promes, a close friend.

However, the winger said he had not considered moving from the Russian Premier League, telling Sport Express: "I never thought about other clubs -- never.

"Some things were said, but I do not know about that. I just know that I play for Spartak, and people who really know me understand this."

On Wijnaldum's comments, Promes added: "Yes, he says he wants me [at Liverpool], because he likes me as a player. That's what he said.

"I talked with him, of course. But it wasn't about Liverpool. We're friends.

"Everyone who knows me understands what I think, and fans of Spartak know and remember what I said. I do not understand why this issue is discussed at all."

Promes joined Spartak from FC Twente for €11 million in 2014 and has scored six goals in 17 appearances this season.
