Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois enjoying 'best spell' of form

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has said he feels he enjoying his finest run of form for the club.

Courtois and his Stamford Bridge teammates are top of the Premier League table and challenging for a second title in three seasons.

Sunday's 2-0 win over Hull City took them eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal as Courtois kept a 13th clean sheet of the season.

"It's difficult to compare to before but I think, at Chelsea, it's my best spell," he told Le Grand Debrief.

"I feel good on the pitch, I make key stops when they're needed.

"I try to be ready to help the team. I think I've really improved with the ball at my feet this year and last year. All that means that I'm confident and feel great."

Courtois reacted to questions about the decision of Belgium teammate Axel Witsel to move to the Chinese Super League by saying it was "the choice of each player."

Witsel rejected a move to Juventus in favour of joining Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian in a deal worth a reported €18 million a year.

And Courtois said: "Each has to look after himself. Some think more about life after football and want to be certain about that."

He added that he felt going to China would mean "being with players who aren't as good and being a little bit hidden from the world of football."
