Carlo Ancelotti: Forget about Bayern Munich move for Marco Verratti

Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti has distanced himself from rumours linking the German champions with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, saying: "Forget it."

Ancelotti knows the player well from his time at PSG, and with Xabi Alonso set to retire and Arturo Vidal potentially on the move, has been linked with a summer move.

But speaking at a news conference ahead of Bayern's first competitive match of 2017 at Freiburg, he said: "I know Marco Verratti -- I coached him over two years with PSG.

"He is a very good player but he currently plays for PSG. I also know he will continue to play for PSG for a long time still.

"I have not spoken with his for three months, not even by phone. Forget it."

PSG coach Unai Emery has praised Verratti and emphasised his importance to the club's long-term plans.

Speaking at a prematch news conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Nantes, he said: "We are all waiting to see Marco back to his very best for PSG and for him to keep growing here.

"Today, he is very important. He was injured for a long time. All PSG fans love him and want to see him remain in Paris for many years to come."
