Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal not joining Sevilla in January - Monchi

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has ruled out a return for Barcelona right-back Aleix Vidal despite reports suggesting a transfer could happen.

Sport recently reported that Vidal could move back to Sevilla on loan during the January window.

However, Monchi told Cadena Ser: "There are very few options that Aleix Vidal can return to us as it is a role that we have well covered."

Vidal, who helped Sevilla win the Europa League weeks before leaving for Barca in June 2015, does not appear to feature in Luis Enrique's plans at the Camp Nou.

However, the 27-year-old did start for the second time in La Liga this season in Saturday's 5-0 win over Las Palmas, when he scored.

Monchi also denied reports in Spain that Sevilla had rekindled their interest in Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo.

"With respect to Parejo, it's the same case as with Vidal's position -- we have an overbooking," he said.

Parejo came close to joining in the summer but Valencia reportedly turned down Sevilla's €10 million bid. Superdeporte have said Valencia are considering selling the 27-year-old this month.

Sevilla, second in La Liga, have already strengthened their squad by adding French centre-back Clement Lenglet from Nancy and forward Stevan Jovetic on loan from Inter Milan.
