Middlesbrough winger Emilio Nsue set for Birmingham - sources

Middlesbrough winger Emilio Nsue is poised to join Birmingham City in a £1 million deal, sources close to the Championship club have told ESPN FC.

Nsue, 27, joined Middlesbrough from Mallorca in the summer of 2014 and helped them win promotion to the Premier League last season.

The Equatorial Guinea international is equally adept at playing at right-back as well as right wing, but has found his first-team opportunities in the Premier League under Aitor Karanka restricted this season and has made just five appearances in all competitions this term.

Nsue's deal at the Riverside Stadium was due to expire this summer and the club have decided to cash in on him after Birmingham expressed an interest in his services.

Birmingham boss Gianfranco Zola is desperate to add to his squad during the January transfer window as he has yet to win a match since replacing Gary Rowett at St Andrew's earlier this month.

Nsue was capped at under-21 level by Spain before he pledged his international allegiance to Equatorial Guinea.
