PSG's Edinson Cavani hoping to link up with Atletico's Antoine Griezmann

Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani has said he would like to play alongside Atletico Madrid and France forward Antoine Griezmann one day.

Cavani has been in sensational form for the French giants this season, reacting positively to coach Unai Emery's arrival at Parc des Princes by scoring 20 goals from as many appearances in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

The Uruguay international recently tweeted a picture of himself drinking a cup of South American mate after training and invited Griezmann to join him for some in the future.

Speaking with RMC Sport, Cavani said his invitation to the Frenchman was merely "a friendly message."

"It is the press who have said I invited him to drink mate with me [with the intention of luring him to Paris]," Cavani said. "It is normal to invite someone to drink mate in Uruguay.

"I would like to play with him one day," the 29-year-old continued. "I find him an excellent attacking talent and my teammates have told me that he is also an excellent guy."

Cavani has been linked with a move to Madrid to play for Atleti under Diego Simeone but since Zlatan Ibrahimovic's free transfer to Manchester United, the South American has become the focal point of the PSG attack.
