Borussia Dortmund deny Real Madrid transfer option claims

Borussia Dortmund have said a report claiming Real Madrid have first option to sign their players is "complete fiction."

Madrid-based Marca reported on Thursday that the two clubs had strengthened their "healthy relationship" with Madrid "striking a deal to give them an option on their most important players."

The paper claimed the deal had been agreed this week when Dortmund played out a 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu and meant that Dortmund "will not allow one of their major stars to move to another side without first informing Real Madrid of another club's interest in their players."

When asked about the alleged agreement on Friday, Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel said on Friday: "What do we get from this agreement? That's the first time I've heard about this. I'm not sure what we would get from it."

Dortmund media director Sascha Fligge added: "That's complete fiction. It's perplexing. Of 20 different outlets reporting it today, only one contacted us."

Marca had named BVB attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and midfielders Julian Weigl and Ousmane Dembele as players of "particular interest to Los Blancos," but Tuchel said at the news conference that Weigl "is not ready to play for Real Madrid."

According to Marca, the friendship between Madrid president Florentino Perez and Dortmund counterpart Reinhard Rauball was the key to the agreement.

However, it is Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke -- who has in the past spoken about the close ties between the two sides -- who was pictured sitting next to Perez at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.
