Boca Juniors' Carlos Tevez won't rule out Shanghai Shenhua offer

Boca Juniors striker Carlos Tevez has said he is aware of an offer to play for Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua but has not decided what he will do.

New Shanghai Shenhua coach Gustavo Poyet has said the club are negotiating with Tevez over a deal worth a reported €40 million per season.

Poyet said that signing Tevez for Shanghai Shenhua "would be a pleasure," while president Wu Xiaohui confirmed that talks were in progress and he would like to bring him in "as soon as possible."

But Tevez said he was focused solely on the forthcoming Clasico against River Plate on Sunday.

"I could leave, I could retire, I don't really know the answer to that right now," he told a news conference.

"I didn't say I was leaving -- I just said I would entertain the decision at the end of the season.

"I will do what is best for me, my family and my club. There is too much going on right now to think about it."

Tevez said he is at Boca because he loves the fans of his boyhood club, but admitted that criticism from the media and supporters was hard for him.

"When Boca don't play well it is front-page news, but they must understand that I am human and I need to do what is best for me," he added.

Tevez, 32, admitted in September that he had been considering retirement after Boca Juniors were beaten by Independiente del Valle in the Copa Libertadores semifinals, but was persuaded to continue playing.

Former Argentina striker Tevez joined West Ham from Brazilian club Corinthians in 2006, before moving to Manchester United on a two-year loan deal after one season.

He won back-to-back league titles and was a Champions League winner before joining rivals Manchester City, where he won a third league title in the 2011-12 season. He scored a total of 84 goals in 202 Premier League games.

Tevez went on to Juventus in 2013, winning consecutive league titles, before rejoining boyhood club Boca.
