Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini unlikely to join West Ham - sources

West Ham United are unlikely to make a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini in January, sources close to the London club have told ESPN FC.

Fellaini has been linked with a switch to the London Stadium as the Hammers look to bring in new faces to lift them clear of relegation trouble.

West Ham have given manager Slaven Bilic a vote of confidence and are likely to make funds available to strengthen the squad.

However, sources said Fellaini was not at the top of their wanted list, with the priorities in January being a striker and a central defender.

The Belgium international's future at United has been the subject of speculation.

He has been unable to hold down a regular place and came under fire from supporters after his clumsy challenge gave Everton an equalising penalty in the recent draw at Goodison Park.

United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to trim his squad but sources have told ESPN FC he is open to offloading fringe players other than Fellaini, who has made 16 appearances in all competitions for United.
