Julian Draxler booed amid reports of Wolfsburg departure

Julian Draxler was booed by Wolfsburg supporters after coming on as a substitute in the 3-2 defeat against Hertha Berlin on Saturday, amid reports that talks have already begun about a move in the January transfer window.

Draxler, 23, was refused a move away from the Volkswagen-Arena in the summer and has reiterated his desire to move on leading to a lack of sympathy from Wolfsburg coach Valerien Ismael.

"It's never nice when a player is whistled at by your own supporters. It's not helpful," Ismael told Sport1 on Sunday. "But you have to understand the fans. The player got himself into the situation."

Draxler was also criticised by the club's under-fire sporting director Klaus Allofs, who told kicker that "Julian does not signal" he wants to give it his all for the club.

Wolfsburg's stance has now changed and Allofs has said they are open to selling the forward. According to kicker, talks between Draxler's agent Roger Wittmann and the club over a winter exit have already begun.

The agent also represents Wolfsburg players Ricardo Rodriguez and Luiz Gustavo, who have also been linked with a move away from the Volkswagen Arena.

Juventus and Arsenal were both linked with the Germany international in the summer, with the Bianconeri having been close to signing him when he joined Wolfsburg from Schalke in a club-record deal in 2015.

Wolfsburg, Bundesliga runners-up in 2015, have only picked up 10 points from 13 league matches, and sit 15th, just three points ahead of Hamburg who occupy the first direct relegation spot.
