Premier League clubs to scout Racing Genk's Omar Colley - agent

A number of Premier League clubs are set to watch Racing Genk defender Omar Colley in Europa League action against Rapid Vienna on Thursday, the player's agent has told ESPN FC.

Colley, 24, has impressed at Genk since joining the Belgian side from Swedish club Djurgardens IF in the summer.

The powerful centre-back rejected interest from clubs in Spain and Germany in the summer to move to Genk as he wanted to be sure of regular first-team football to continue his development.

Colley has made 17 appearances for Genk so far this season and his performances in the Europa League have brought him to the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.

Southampton have been credited with an interest in Colley in case they lose reported Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk in January, while several other Premier League and Bundesliga sides are monitoring the Gambia international's situation at Genk.

Scouts are expected to take in Genk's Europa League clash with Rapid on Thursday to cast an eye over Colley as his suitors weigh up moves for the versatile defender when the transfer window reopens in January.

Colley's agent, Ferhat Cifci, says he has spoken with several Premier League teams about the player and that he is not surprised by the growing interest in his client.

"I have been contacted by a number of Premier League clubs and other clubs about Omar," Cifci told ESPN FC. "I don't want to name certain clubs, but there has been a lot of interest in him. I am not surprised in the interest as Omar has done very well for Genk and there are a lot of scouts at their games.

"I believe scouts from Premier League teams will watch Omar in the Europa League on Thursday and will continue to monitor him."
