Brice Dja Djedje signs for Watford from Marseille on four-year deal

Watford have announced the signing of defender Brice Dja Djedje from Marseille.

Ivory Coast international Dja Djedje, 25, arrives on a four-year deal for a reported fee of £4 million.

The right-back told L'Equipe: "I had other proposals, yes, even a German club, but I preferred to sign for Watford because this is a good club.

"I will find some former players of Ligue 1 and because it allows me to set foot in the Premier League."

He is now set to join up with his new teammates on their preseason tour of Austria.

Dja Djedje said he is looking forward to working with new Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri, whom he claims was interested in signing him when in charge at Napoli.

"I feel with him [Mazzarri] I can continue to progress," the defender added. "He wants to play his 3-5-2 team, this is a system that suits me well because we played in a slightly similar way with [former Marseille boss] Marcelo [Bielsa]."

New manager Mazzarri has also brought in Belgium international Christian Kabasele, Jerome Sinclair from Liverpool and forward Isaac Success as well as Colombia international full-back Juan Camilo Zuniga on loan from Napoli.

Information from the Press Association was used in this report.
