Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is "confident" that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward can deliver the fourth signing that he needs, but refused to confirm or deny if it is Paul Pogba.
Sources close to the English club have told ESPN FC that United officials are in Italy to meet Juventus and try to agree a world-record transfer for Pogba.
Mourinho pointed out that Pogba remains a Juventus player and said that it is not correct to speak about players of other clubs.
Woodward has not travelled to China with United on their preseason tour and a source told ESPN FC that he has not taken a decision yet on whether to go to Beijing for the Manchester derby on Monday.
The United manager also remarked that United have been looking at a "few options" in their attempts to secure four key, new recruits this summer.
When asked about Pogba in his news conference in Shanghai on Thursday, Mourinho said: "I don't confirm and I don't deny. First of all, it's not correct to speak of players of other clubs. He's a Juventus player not a United player."

He added: "We are calm. I am confident Mr Woodward can bring the profile we need to give the squad a good balance."
Reports in Europe have claimed that the deal for Juventus midfielder Pogba has been agreed, while it has been reported in the UK that a fee for agent Mino Raiola is a remaining hurdle before the transfer can be completed.
The three signings United have completed so far are Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly. Ibrahimovic has been left out of the China tour, but Mkhitaryan and Bailly are both in the Far East as United prepare to face Borussia Dortmund on Friday then Manchester City on Monday.
Mourinho said: "My board did a fantastic work to do 75 percent of the job I asked. I asked for four players and gave them a few options. They did for me 75 percent of the job. We have just 25 percent to do before Aug. 31. We are in great position to do a good market."
