Leroy Sane move to Manchester City still a ways off - Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City and Schalke are far from agreeing a deal for Germany national team winger Leroy Sane.

The City boss admitted that he is keen to bring the 20-year-old to the Etihad, but insists a deal is some way off.

The two parties differ on their valuation of the player; reports in Germany claim that Schalke were hoping to get around €50 million for their biggest asset.

"Sane is a player of Schalke. Of course we talk to him -- Schalke knows we are interested, but at this moment we don't have many possibilities to get him," Guardiola told a news conference following City's 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly.

"There's a difference between City and Schalke and it's quite big, but I don't know what's going to happen in the coming weeks and months," said the manager.

Schalke general manager Christian Heidel revealed on Tuesday that Sane had made it clear to the club that he wants to leave this summer.

Last week, German newspaper Bild reported that Sane had already agreed terms on a four-year contract at City.

Guardiola has already bolstered his squad ahead of his first campaign as a manager in the Premier League by signing Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, Nolito from Celta Vigo and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Russian club FC Ufa.
