Andre-Pierre Gignac planning on Tigres stay despite rumours

Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has pledged to see out the remainder of his contract with the Liga MX club.

Gignac, 30, left Marseille for Mexico last summer but France Football recently reported that he was keen a new challenge.

On his return from holidays, however, the France international said he was not going anywhere.

"They're only rumours," BeIN Sports quoted Gignac as saying. "I love Tigres and everyone knows it.

"I still have three years left on my contract -- I'm going to stay. I'm 30 so until I'm 33 I'll be at Tigres."

Since moving to Mexico, Gignac has helped Tigres reach the final of both the Copa Libertadores and the CONCACAF Champions League as well as winning the 2015 Apertura title.

He also earned a recall to the France squad and hit the post in the final minute of normal time in his side's 1-0 loss against Portugal in this month's Euro 2016 final.

Caen striker Andy Delort had been mentioned as a potential replacement for Gignac and the French club have confirmed that the former Wigan player is a transfer target for Tigres.

Gignac said it would be good if his compatriot, 24, could join him.

"It's a subject that I can't talk about -- it's up to the management to do that," Gignac said. "I can only say that I would like him to come. He's a young player with a lot of potential."
