Adam Kwarasey leaves Portland Timbers to join Rosenborg

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey left the Portland Timbers on Monday for a move to Norwegian champions Rosenborg.

Kwarasey, 28, made 40 appearances for the Timbers over a year and a half in MLS and helped Portland win the MLS Cup last December.

However, after missing time with a finger injury in April, he lost his starting spot to Jake Gleeson this season and has decided to move on to Europe.

"I want to thank Adam for his contributions to the club and for helping us win our first major trophy," Timbers coach Caleb Porter said.

"I enjoyed working with him, and he was a top-class professional in his time here. We wish him nothing but the best with his new opportunity."

Kwarasey will have an opportunity to play in the Champions League with Rosenborg, who are in the midst of a second qualifying round tied with Swedish side Norrkoping.

The keeper is a Ghana international but was born in Norway and previously played there for Stromsgodset.
