Emanuele Giaccherini moving to Napoli as agent says deal is 'all done'

Emanuele Giaccherini is set to leave Sunderland after his agent confirmed a move to Napoli is "all done."

The 31-year-old has spent three years as a Sunderland player after moving from Juventus.

He played for Bologna last season before shining at Euro 2016, and it now appears a permanent return to Italy is on the cards.

"We're almost there, it's all done for Giaccherini, the last few details are being ironed out with Sunderland," his agent Furio Valcareggi told Radio CRC.

"The boy is very happy. It was a choice made by him and his wife.

"He's finally getting what he deserves after being underestimated for years."

Giaccherini had previously been linked to Torino and Valcareggi confirmed talks with the club occurred before Napoli swooped and offered Champions League football.

"We had an agreement but then came an offer from Napoli," the agent said. "[Torino chairman Urbano] Cairo may not agree with our choice but he will understand why.

"The career of a footballer is short and everyone has the right to choose. It was inevitable that an offer by Napoli would be answered affirmatively."
