Vincent Janssen confirms Tottenham transfer is close to completion

AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen says he is close to joining Tottenham, claiming negotiations between the clubs could be concluded soon.

Janssen, 22, was pictured leaving AZ's training ground with a suitcase on Friday, amid reports in the UK and Netherlands that the Dutch club have accepted a bid of around €22 million from Spurs.

He finished last season as the Eredivisie top scorer with 27 goals in 34 matches, and has made no secret of his desire to join Tottenham and told local Alkmaar newspaper Noorholland Dagsblad that the situation was "looking good".

Sources have told ESPN FC that Janssen has already visited Tottenham's North London training centre to discuss personal terms, and the move is likely to be concluded quickly once the clubs agree a final package, which is expected to include a sell-on clause should Janssen leave White Hart Lane in the future.

Janssen would be Spurs' second signing of the summer after the capture of Victor Wanyama from Southampton in an £11 million deal.

The Netherlands international, who scored against England at Wembley in March, will provide competition for Harry Kane, Spurs' only recognised striker.

And he insisted the prospect of competing with Kane for playing time is not something he is concerned by, telling AD: "Harry Kane? People can say what they want but I'm not afraid of anybody. He is a great striker but we naturally see how it goes. We can complement each other, I think I can learn a lot from him."

Janssen spent just one season at AZ after arriving from Dutch minnows Almere City FC in summer 2015.
