Scotland's Steven Fletcher joins Sheffield Wednesday on free transfer

Steven Fletcher has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a four-year deal following the expiry of his Sunderland contract.

The Scotland international spent the second half of last season on loan with Marseille where he made 13 appearances and scored three goals.

Fletcher, 29, has now joined the Owls on a free transfer after his contact expired at the Premier League club on June 30.

The striker originally joined the Sunderland from Wolves in August 2012 in a transfer deal worth £12 million and went onto make 102 appearances over a four-year period for the Black Cats.

His first competitive game for his new club could be Sheffield Wednesday's season opener against Aston Villa on Aug. 7 in the Championship.
