Gianluca Lapadula should have signed for Genoa, not AC Milan - Preziosi

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has accused AC Milan of stealing Gianluca Lapadula from under his nose, saying he already had an agreement with Pescara to sign the forward.

Milan made Lapadula, 26, their first signing of the summer last week, also beating off competition from Napoli for his services.

However, Preziosi insists Lapadula should now be a Genoa player, claiming the club had an agreement with his agent and Pescara to sign him.

"This whole Lapadula issue has hurt me," Preziosi is quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport as saying. "We wanted to complete the signing of Lapadula, but we all know what happened next.

"I already had an agreement with his agent and with [Pescara's] president, but then this little thing happened. We had all the agreements and had even taken photos with the player."

Missing out on Lapadula now changes Genoa's plans in the transfer market this summer, according to Preziosi.

"If we had signed him and got another forward, we could also have sold Leonardo Pavoletti," he said. "Now we've got to reflect, but this whole thing has really disappointed me, and when I am disappointed, I am dangerous.

"What makes things worse is that it was all managed badly by an agent [Alessandro Moggi] with whom I had a great relationship."
