Inter Milan have been urged to sign Dimitri Payet by former club president Massimo Moratti after his 21-year involvement with the Serie A club officially came to an end on Tuesday. Moratti has been owner of Inter since 1995, but his remaining stake in the Nerazzurri was sold this week as part of a deal struck with the Chinese Suning Group. And in a parting message he called on the club's new owners to invest in the transfer market and make a move for West Ham United playmaker Payet. "These are just the kind of things you hear every day at the bar, and tomorrow morning my request will be to see Payet," Moratti said. "You can't buy the great champions right now, you need to be lucky to find the right bargain." That will be the aim of Inter's new owners as they set their sights on a return to the summit of Italian and European football. "We've set the following goal for Inter: be a leader in Serie A and Europe," Suning chairman Zhang Jindong said at a news conference. "That's the success you need at a global club like Inter. That's also the only type of success that can reflect Suning's standards and their benchmark levels of success in world football. "Our battle grounds this year will once again be Serie A and the Europa League. Yet our main aim remains to be in the Champions League. "Third, we will continue to support investment in youth development. We have to keep strengthening our youth academy with players from all over the world and above all develop local stars in Italy. "We want to relive the glory years under Moratti. But before that we have to channel the spirit of the man, investing in young players, youth development and the culture of a club side."
