Inter Milan want to sign 'magnificent' Antonio Candreva - Pirelli president

The president of Inter Milan's main sponsors Pirelli has backed the Nerazzurri to sign Italy international Antonio Candreva from Serie A rivals Lazio.

Inter are reported to have already made a bid for Candreva, who has been impressing for the national team at the European Championships in France.

And Pirelli president Marco Tronchetti Provera believes the 29-year-old could be the man to help fire Inter to success next season.

"He's a magnificent player and obviously I hope that he will come to Inter," Tronchetti Provera told Radio GR Parlamento. "Let's see how negotiations between the Chinese [owners of Inter] and [Lazio president Claudio] Lotito go.

"Inter are so close to being able to challenge for the Scudetto so let's see if our new signings can strengthen our midfield. As a fan and lover of football, I always hope that a big champion also plays for Inter."

According to Candreva's agent, the player has already made his mind up to leave the Eternal City this summer.

"The president knows what the lad wants and Lotito just has to set the price," Federico Pastorello said. "Candreva has made his desire quite clear, so let's see if there will be any developments in the days to come."

Candreva scored 10 goals in 30 Serie A appearances for the Biancocelesti last season, while he was one of Italy's best performers in their first two games at Euro 2016 before an injury ruled him out of both the defeat to Republic of Ireland and the win over Spain.

Italy coach Antonio Conte will be hoping to have him fit and available to face Germany on Saturday, with Inter keen to see him in their shirt from August.
