Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has confirmed that he plans to leave the club this summer.
Subotic, 27, has made 259 competitive appearances for Dortmund since arriving from Mainz in 2008, but he fell down the pecking order after Thomas Tuchel replaced Jurgen Klopp as coach last summer.
Subotic's agent said in recent days that the centre-back was now actively looking at other options and the player himself has now posted on Facebook to confirm he plans to move on.
The former Serbia international, who was linked with Klopp's Liverpool during the season, wrote: "I've come to realise over the last year that my love for football and for my active role on the pitch is too big to just follow the events from outside.
"Football is an important building block of my life which I love and don't want to be without.
"I am at the best footballing age right now and want to use that time to further myself and my club, and to have the feeling to be needed on the pitch, and be able to give it my all for the club.
"That's what I am thinking about right now.
"I don't want to earn my money on the bench, but rather want to be an active part of a story, as was the case until last year.
"I hope you can relate to it and understand it. BVB is in my heart, and will always remain there."
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc recently said the club would not block any move despite Subotic's status as a fan favourite at the Westfalenstadion.
Zorc told kicker: "We will treat Neven's situation with the necessary and deserved respect."
Subotic has previously expressed a desire to play in the Premier League but has also been linked with Hamburg.
