Tottenham offer for Vincent Janssen rejected by AZ Alkmaar

The technical director of AZ Alkmaar, Max Huiberts, says the Dutch club have rejected a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for striker Vincent Janssen.

Janssen, who finished last season as Eredivisie top scorer with 27 goals in 34 games, visited Tottenham's training ground two weeks ago to discuss a move to White Hart Lane.

But Huiberts says a Spurs bid -- reported to be in the region of €14 million -- has been rebuffed and that no other club had made an offer for Janssen, although Wolfsburg's sporting director says the German club has been in touch with the 22-year-old.

"The difference between the offer and the asking price is too big. I hear a lot of rumours but nobody else has made an offer," Huiberts is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino watched Janssen in Netherlands' 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin last month and is keen to add another forward to his squad, after sealing the transfer of midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton on Thursday.
