Everton's Romelu Lukaku becoming too expensive for AC Milan - agent

The agent of Everton forward Romelu Lukaku has ruled out a transfer of his client this summer to Italy, unless the proposed takeover of AC Milan by a group of Chinese investors goes ahead.

Lukaku has many admirers in Serie A, but his agent Mino Raiola says nobody in Italy can afford him, as things currently stand.

"He's too expensive for Serie A," Raiola told Belgium's Sportwereld. "That is unless this new group of Chinese investors complete the purchase of Milan."

He added: "Romelu certainly has the quality to play in Serie A."

A deal between AC Milan and a group of Chinese investors, which would have seen more funds injected into the club for big-money signings had been due to go ahead, but has since been postponed while current president Silvio Berlusconi recovers from heart surgery.

Lukaku may not have impressed in Belgium's defeat to Italy in Lyon last week, but may see his stock rising after scoring a brace against the Republic of Ireland, so much so Raiola says he is now being priced out of the market for any Italian club and only a handful of clubs could afford the 23-year-old.

"Only the world's best can afford him: the top clubs in England, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich," Raiola added.

"But right now, Romelu, Paul [Pogba] and Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] should just be concentrating on the European Championship."
