Borussia Dortmund sign Portugal's Raphael Guerreiro from Lorient

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Portugal left-back Raphael Guerreiro from Lorient on a four-year contract.

Guerreiro, 22, is currently with the Portugal squad at Euro 2016 and played the full 90 minutes of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Iceland.

"Raphael Guerreiro is a technically-skilled player who feels at home in several positions," sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official website. "We are very happy that he has chosen Borussia Dortmund."

Guerreiro was allowed by the Portuguese FA to undergo his medical in Paris on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-6 defender is set to compete with left-back Marcel Schmelzer for his place in the Dortmund team. But unlike his new teammate, Guerreiro can also be played in a more attacking role by coach Thomas Tuchel.

Dortmund reportedly paid €12 million for their sixth new signing of the summer.

Last season's Bundesliga runners-up have already signed two defensive-minded Spaniards in ex- Barcelona youth product Marc Bartra and Mikel Merino, who is currently fighting for promotion into La Liga with Osasuna.

Holding midfielder Sebastian Rode has joined from Bayern Munich and talented youngsters Emre Mor and Ousmane Dembele have moved to Dortmund from Nordsjælland and Rennes respectively.

Dortmund have paid a reported total of €60m for the services of their new players, and have so far generated €62m through the transfers of Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan to Bayern Munich and Manchester City respectively.

On Wednesday, Dortmund ruled out selling midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer despite the prospect of losing him on a free transfer next year.
