Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Spain international Alvaro Morata, according to reports in England and Spain.
Morata, 23, could leave Juventus this summer as Real Madrid retain a buy-back clause for the striker after selling him two years ago.
There has been speculation for some time that Madrid could exercise the clause and then sell Morata on to a Premier League club for a higher fee, and the Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and AS all reported on Monday that Chelsea are now in pole position to secure his signature.
The Telegraph said Chelsea have opened talks over the transfer after Arsenal, who were previously touted as the frontrunners to sign Morata, opted instead for Leicester's Jamie Vardy.
The report added that they retain an interest in Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, who is keen on a return to Stamford Bridge.
AS reports that Morata would be happy to play under incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who left Juve at the end of the 2013-14 season.
Morata, who is part of Spain's Euro 2016 squad, recently said he would relish a move to the Premier League even if his ultimate aim is to triumph at the Bernabeu.
He has also said he would be happy to stay at Juve should they reach an agreement with Madrid.
