Sergi Canos turns down Liverpool contract offer - sources

Liverpool winger Sergi Canos has turned down the club's offer of a new deal, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Canos is entering the final year of his contract at Anfield and the club have offered him an extension, but all parties are currently some way apart on the terms offered.

The 19-year-old made his Liverpool debut with a late cameo off the bench against West Bromwich Albion on the final day of the Premier League season earlier this month.

Canos is highly regarded at Anfield after joining the club as a 16-year-old in 2013 from Barcelona.

The skilful attacker enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell at Brentford this term, scoring seven goals in 38 appearances for the Championship club.

A number of clubs were alerted to Canos' potential during his loan spell at Brentford and they are monitoring his contract situation at Liverpool.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool come back with an improved contract offer for Canos otherwise they could be forced to sell the Spanish youth international this summer rather than risk letting him see out his contract.
